	An IPM guide for Enset root mealybug (Cataenococcus ensete) in Enset production (2 Mo) FS F. Azerefegne, T. Addis, T. Alemu, S. Lemawork, E. Tadesse, M. Gemu and G. Blomme. 2009 This guide has been produced as an overview of a body of work that aims to help mitigate the threat of Enset mealybug: the biology and description of Enset mealybug; its behaviour; its geographical distribution; the pest symptoms; the list of mealybug dispersal methods, and the means of mealybug management, including prevention (clean planting material, extension, affordable management, quarantine, hygiene and ant control), cultural control (farmyard manure, hot water treatment, cultivation), biological control, use of insecticidal plant extracts (botanicals), and agrochemical control.

It is intended to serve as a useful guide in the identification and selection of cultivars for further evaluation by researchers and planting by interested banana growers.

Pocasangre. 2004 La siembra, producción y comercialización del banano en la Región del Alto Beni posee una gran importancia debido a que se ha constituido en uno de los productos agrícolas fundamentales para la zona, con cuya producción se abastecen, principalmente, los diferentes mercados mayoristas de la ciudad de La Paz y pobladores dela región. La siembra y explotación del banano es afectada por varios factores como: labores de siembra y manejo de las plantaciones no apropiadas; uso de un clon susceptible al ataque de la Sigatoka negra; mal manejo en la cosecha y poscosecha de la fruta; sistemas inadecuados de transporte a los centros de mercadeo y consumo, entre otros. Todos estos factores influyen en los rendimientos y calidad de la producción, con los consecuentes resultados negativos en la economía de los productores. Tomando en cuenta las anteriores consideraciones y con el fin primordial de poder contribuir en el mejoramiento de la fruta para que el público consumidor pueda adquirir una fruta de optima calidad a precios razonables y el productor una retribución económica aceptable, se ha preparado el presente manual para los productores de banano orgánico del Alto Beni.
